About us

Lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, queer, intersex, agender and asexual people (LGBTQIA+) often experience difficult situations. That is why we, as a group of LGBTQIA+ people, want to support other LGBTQIA+ people who are in distress. Those affected define what constitutes an emergency themselves. In this way, individual problems are tackled together and possible solutions are sought together. The LGBTQIA+ Support Group does not aim to fill state gaps and works independently of the authorities.

The aim of the LGBTQIA+ Support Group is to accompany people on their path to self-liberation.

The LGBTQIA+ Support Group is part of the left-wing and extra-parliamentary movement in Zurich.

The people in the LGBTQIA+ Support Group who offer support and accompaniment are not experts. The foundation of our support work is based on mutual aid and community – by and for LGBTQIA+ people.

You can find the LGBTQIA+ Support Group at:

Website: www.support4lgbt.ch
Email: info@support4lgbt.ch
Space: Streikhaus (Sihlquai 115, 8005 Zurich)

The people in the LGBTQIA+ Support Group who offer support and accompaniment meet twice a month as the “Core Group”. Additional meetings take place in the subgroups (Support Groups). Support Groups are small groups (2–3 people) that provide direct support work for people who want it.

People are not alone in emergency situations; we share our resources:

  • For example, accompanying people to appointments with public authorities, dealing with bureaucracy, finding housing, looking for a job, language courses, translations, questions about the asylum process, etc.
  • Referrals to solidarity-based structures for legal advice, as well as psychological and medical support.
  • Connecting people with groups and individuals, providing orientation, and introducing people to solidarity-based spaces in the Zurich area.
  • We do not offer long-term or purely financial support. We can support people in searching for financial resources.
